Dream - 006 Inhumanity amongst humans.

"Dad! Hurry, we're gonna miss Sarai's dance!" A little boy ran eagerly, his father not too far behind him.

As I looked up, flashy lights, loud bizarre sounds, and a strong factored perfume filled my senses.

The digital speaker came to life and blared:
"Welcome! We welcome you!
Come! See, as young men and women, boys and girls, perform and fight!
All these are to your heart's delight! We assured you your satisfaction.
As promised last month, the petting zoo is now open! Experience what it is like to feed children age 4 and below! Food scraps will be provided for purchase near the feeding area."

What is this place? I thought.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This was a dream.

A sick dream.
What was typed up above doesn't give you a clear picture of what I dreamed, so permit me to share with you what was played in my mind as I slept.

Think about the word, 'zoo'.
What is a zoo?
It's a place to-? display animals..  rear animals, whatever. It's for animals, basically.
Occasionally, there will be performances presented by animals of varying shapes and sizes.

Now, replace all the animals with humans. Humans. Yes, now imagine some or all of your friends and family members are in this zoo. You are the only one in the zoo who is not caged up, preparing for the next performance or fighting over scraps of food with other cellmates.

This zoo is big and hosts over a thousand humans.
Some are slaves, some are dancers.
Some are fighters, some are just for show because of their being born with some screws missing, be it a missing limp or a disfigured body or face.
They are all for show.
To entertain, is their only goal in this life of theirs. Not survival.

In this dream, I visited a friend.
She was a performer.
She was dressed scantily and had too much make-up on her face.
She was not treated as a human should be treated, she was treated as an animal.
Her parents were in debt and sold her here so that they could continue to live in a life of luxury and comfort. What's worse is that she accepted her life here without putting up a fight. She was treated as an asset to patch a hole in a person's wallet.

At this point, I thought in my mind in what kind of world do I live in that permits such distortion in law and in conduct as homo-sapiens? Has the government take leave of their senses? What has become of this world? Remember that this was a dream.

Every corner, every lot, every cage or den, there are humans in it.

As I walked on the pathway, I realized that this dream should not take place, should not transform into reality. What am I going to do about it when I wake up?
Study law and take up a stand and fight fervently for human rights?
Not everyone would feel the same as I did. Or would do what as suggested, be a lawyer.

No, what we can do is easier said than done due to our habits of vulgar words and rash actions.
But it is simple.
We can treat every soul we see, we meet, we cross paths with, equally.
Treat each one as we would like to be treated.
With politeness, with kindness, with a smile.
Be it a stranger, a friend or an acquaintance, or an enemy.

Let's not 'throw scraps of food' at each other but feed one other with acts and services of love.
This may not be the best way to convey how I felt as I shook myself awake.
This may not be presented to suit everyone's point of view.
The flow of this post may not be fluent or of standard.
But the main line I would like all my readers to remember is:
"TREAT EACH ONE AS WE WOULD LIKE TO BE TREATED."

There is a Bible verse to this, you may not be a Christian but I'm going to share it anyway, whether you read it or not.
This is from NIV (New International Version).
Matthew 7:12: "So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you..."

Thank you for investing your time to read this post.

Dream 005 - Why? (mild gore included)

“I love you, babe.”

“I love you too, my love…”

I didn’t know that it was probably the last time I would ever hear those heartfelt words spoken from the lips of the love of my life. The last thing I saw was the warm smile on her face; the smile that gleamed like silver in the night light. She turned and walked towards the bathroom, her hair swished softly against the cool air in the room. Water could be heard running down the tap.

And then everything happened.

I couldn’t breathe. Water gushed down my throat as I struggled for air. Each gulp tasted dirty and burned my stomach.

Evynnest!

I slid and slide as I tried to get a hold of my footing and stumbled towards the washroom.

The hell is happening? Why is everything so freaking blur? Why can’t I see straight?

“Evyn…” I croaked out her name as my windpipe tries to cope from near-drowning.

“Evyn!” I screamed her name. “Evyn!”

Something slick and sticky seeped into the space between my toes.

It wasn’t water. I looked down and all I could see was a murky dark red that flooded the bathroom
floor, so much blood everywhere.

Where did- How-?

“Vine…” That familiar voice, a voice that I love and got used to. “Come here, Yothvine.”

As I looked up, my vision cleared and sharpened.

There on the wall, in front of me, hung her pale, limped body. Shards of blood-stained glass pierced through her, all over her, and pinned her onto the wall like some dead animal’s skin.

I could only scream her name. And scream I did, I screamed until my throat burned and speaking became a difficult task.

Grotesque and gory as it seems, I could not, I would not look away from the body of my lover. She had become someone so precious and special in my life that I don’t think that I can ever express care and concern to any other woman as I do to her, Evynnest.

With her body in so much pain, how can she still smile at me? Or is the pain too much that her mind has gone blank?

“Vine.”

“Yes, my love?” I fell to my knees before her. “I’m here.”

She continued to smile as she removed one of the longer shards from her chest and moved it to her ever-slender neck, the neck which I kissed every night to sleep.

“You are the worst.” She spat at me. “But I still love you.”

Time slowed then. Her fingers gripped the sharp weapon so tightly that her hand started to bleed.

“Stop.” I didn’t understand why this was happening.

Loud cracks filled my ears. A few bones and glass snapped inside her body as she moved her right hand.

“Stop! Please stop, please.” But I went along with the flow.

The long and slender knife-like glass bite deep into her windpipe and slit clean her head off as her wrist moved swiftly and ruthlessly. It fell and thudded soundly onto the wet marble floor, with her smile stuck frozen on her face.

No. No, no, no, no, no!

This isn’t- This isn’t happening, this isn’t happening!

He looks.

Promises and good intentions,
both come to naught,
one mistake was all it took.

The Creator & his creations,
mind your thoughts,
beware this, upon us He looks.

The Birthday Love Letter (not a short story, not this time guys.. *wink* )

Hey, Happy Birthday Calvin :)

Thanks for everything a I know this probably isn't the best gift ever :)
But I want you to know I will love you forever and ever. <3
You make me smile till my jaws hurt and my heart beats so fast till I can't feel it.

I didn't even know it was your birthday till you told me D:
erghmygoshhh... I feel so bad. Not to mention the awful handwriting :P
sorry for that. :) Honestly, having you as my "silly little bum bum"... is amazing

A year ago, I never imagine myself liking you... I'm serious.. HaHa :)
But right after I said that, I did. I did fall for you ^v^
Despite your little quirks, I love you. Even if you are too tall, or too skinny <3
My English can't compare to you. Neither can my height, or my age.
But my heart always will have you in it :) Forever.

If someone discovers us and everyone knows, then I want us to be...
that "people-couple". The couple that 10 years from now, they will say, "They're still together"? <3

I know I'm not the most perfect girl you could ask for.
I don't have the prettiest face, the slimmest body or the most beautiful hair for you.
You told me once that you feel you're not worth me. well, I think...that I'm the one that doesn't deserve you.
I fall asleep way too easily, and I'm just really silly :P
Naive, and I'm not the best person in the world.

Imagine, how happy you'd be if you were in a land...
Where everything you want was there. Imagine how happy you'd be?
That's how happy I am when I am with you :) :P :)

I love you so much Calvin :)
Forever :) Forever :) LOVE YOUUU :)
From: Fishy Fishy Pu Pu. To: Silly Bum Bum :)

Typed: 11th July 2013
Time: Late morning, around 11am.. received a call around 11:20am, my girlfriend told me she's going to the hospital for checkup/treatment for a small painful wound close to her left ankle. Was sad and worried.. At least her mom is there for her when I can't.
when you find someone who'll love you and you love that special person, don't let her/him go... but don't take this advice if it's unrequited love (one-sided love)

SS #2 (Short Story number 2)

Twenty nine suns have passed me by since I had that strange dream. It didn’t feel like it brought bad omen, neither had it the positive effect. I awoke the next morn cold, my limbs numb and heavy. No, I wasn’t sweating when I woke up, just unsure what to make of this unexpected event.
Life went on as usual, with the exception of a ‘bonus’ daily experience. The same dream represented itself in my mind every noon around 3 o’clock. Initially, I found it distracting and I started playing virtual games to get my mind off it, but I soon learned to accept the flashbacks whenever it happens. But today, it didn’t come.
I waited till the hour hand crawled slowly away from the number three. When the clock stroked four, I took a brisk stroll to the park and shoot some hoops. Yeah, I went ‘basketball-ing’ in the open under the hot afternoon sun. By myself. That earned me a few uncomfortable stares from the occasional passers-by. I fell asleep peacefully that night, as were the previous nights before and after that strange dream.
Short and quick clawing sounds at the door of my room startled me awake.
“Bacillus, that you?” Upon hearing my voice, the scratching got more persistent. Hope my parents won’t notice the new marks. He was a Maine coon, otherwise known as an American Longhair, a domestic cat with a distinctive physical appearance and valuable hunting skills.
“What’s wrong?” I asked when it didn’t enter. Yeah, talking to a cat was actually the “in thing” when nobody else in the family bothers to communicate with you. What about the family dog? It only knows how to eat, shit, and flop down on its back for belly-rubs. Oh, it sleeps in the same room as my sisters’, air-conditioned. I wore my shoes as I chased after Bacillus which has disappeared down the hallway.
I found it circling before the front door, hairs stood rigid and its back. It was three in the morning. I walked to the door naively, not even in the least bit suspicious if there’s one or more house burglar with a metal wrench at hand, ready to knock the lights out of the idiotic fellow who will be opening the door in a moment’s time.
There was no one at the door. Bacillus, which was at my right, suddenly took a giant leap back, hissing. I looked down and saw a light blue crystal pendant framed by an iron circlet chained to a silver necklace. I picked it up and held it within eye level for a better look. What? It was shiny. But the moment I touched it, a ghost of breeze passed around me and into the house. A powerful force compelled me to move away from the house. The further I got away from it, the less nauseous I feel.
I tucked the jewellery into my left pocket and started walking. Bacillus made a sound when I reached the gate and I turned around to find it tagging the front porch with its paw, testing its solidity. What was as it being paranoid about? I left the thought behind and began to pick up my pace. The skeletal structure of a tall building, twenty floors above ground, stood out of place amongst surrounding short office buildings. It was a project abandoned shortly after the “Poltergeist Kills Twenty” case spread nationwide. I took an involuntary gulp as my feet walked on its own towards it.
It was left as it was due to some unexplained phenomenon that took place seven years ago. To cut the story short, twenty men were killed during the construction. All of them were found fatally wounded by the equipment they used during work. Pelted by hammers, scorched by an iron-wielder, a few of them got rolled over by the construction truck. A distant relative of mine got pile-driven through his torso while his partner seemed to be smashed up by a steel toolbox, mega-ouch indeed.  As I drew closer, realization dawn upon me that I was not alone on this mysterious journey.
All around me, individuals jogged towards the building too. A few of them wore their necklace. I recognized a classmate almost on sight and waved to him. He waved back, an expression of confusion and uncertainty smeared on his face as was on many others, so I noticed. I was shock that I accepted what was happening to me, to us, so calmly. Perhaps, perhaps it is because of the unusual dream I had a month ago, which followed up without fail for almost a month, geared me up for experiences similar to what I am currently experiencing.
“Maehr, what’s going on?” My classmate whispered when he closed the distance between us, our feet didn’t permit us to stop though.
“Don’t know. I’m as clueless as you are.” I said, he grunted his discontent before sprinting off to join a group around our age. I heard them whispered about with each other and shot stares at me.
“Seems like Mr. Know-it-all knows nothing at all.” One of the boys declared, making sure that I was able to hear him, loud and clear. It was true though, I was academically good but I suck at reading moods, the main reason why I’m always single on Valentine’s Day for the last five years ever since I hit puberty. It hit a nerve and he was pleased to see me quicken from a light jog to serious running. I put my distance away from them and their ever-smug faces, but I could not turn my back from the dead concrete tower, so I took a detour instead. I was not afraid of getting lost, as I can only move forward. Go figure.
As I kept running, I began to take notice of my surroundings. The streetlights were lit but every single house I passed by were filled with darkness, not a shred of light shown past the windows. There was not a living being to be found either. The engine of neighbourhood security patrol car hummed idly in the middle of the road and I found the vehicle to be vacant when I ran past it. I decided to turn into an alley where many strays usually took refuge, or were supposed to when night falls, but there was not a single animal to be found, not even the usual fat filthy furry rat that scrams away when you go near the food dumpster in which it religiously feasts in.
A faint tug at my chest made me ceased all movements; it felt as if someone was pulling my shirt. After a moment of uncertainty, my feet resumed jogging. An abrupt jerk pulled me forward and I caught my footing in time to avoid a fall. But I could not avoid the next one which was brutal and violent. This pull became more frequent in the next couple of seconds. When I felt like I couldn’t keep myself up anymore, it yanked me straight to the ground. My chest slammed into soft soil unpleasantly and my face and limbs followed after it.
A soft familiar purr from on my right startled me and I turned my head towards the sound.
“Bacillus, where did you come from?” I spoke to the cat which, without doubt, was mine. “What would lonely me do if something happened to you?”
A wave of dizziness washed over me as I sat upright and scanned where I was. It seems as if I have teleported or something. The abandoned project, which many had nicknamed ‘Ghost Tower’, loomed high and dark before me. Its whole structure was covered in parasitic plants and vines that were as thick as my thighs. Aluminium sheets, made beautiful by some artistic graffiti, fenced off Ghost Tower from the outside world and the barrier was at least ten feet high. No escape there.
As I got to my feet, something strong and solid fell from the sky and wrapped itself around my waist. It then flung me into the air, headfirst towards the roof. Other victims ‘flew’ parallel to me at varying speeds and to our unexpected surprise, a really large-sized kid overtook us, not that any of us were in a hurry to find out what doom await us up there. We arrived and, through common sense, scampered away from the edge of the roof towards the middle of the square platform.
There were about thirty of us gathered on the roof top. Most of us are confused, few including myself were calm. The classmate and his group that mocked me earlier were shooting stares at me and murmuring about with each other. Nearby ears caught snips and bits and started spreading. Before anyone could accuse me of witchcraft, sorcery or whatever shit they would have come up with, a broad plank of wood appeared out of nowhere and dropped onto the floor loudly. Well, that drew everyone's attention.
It began to make scratchy-noises as it started carving words on itself. Those near the wood spout vulgarities and dogged away from it. When it stopped, it was eerily quiet. Daredevils took a few steps towards it before running back towards their friends and daring them to do the same. But none of them ever got close to reading what was scrawled on it.
A pair, probably in their eighteens, walked with confidence in their gait towards it. One had a thuggish look on his face with autumn red hair cropped short to the skull and he wore the silver necklace proudly, probably thinking that it made him better looking. It did though. The other had a bored expression, his black Asian hair long but kept behind ears, which hung an inch or two above his shoulders. His necklace was wrapped a few times on his left wrist so that it represented a bracelet.
“Welcome.” Red-haired boy said aloud for us to hear, “I am the reason why thirty of you are gathered here. If you are not content with your being alive still, you can jump off the building. I guarantee you that you would wake up from this dream. Though, the ride up here would be a waste then. Tell me your name, the one who speaks.”
No one took up the ridiculous offer to commit suicide. Who would? Even in a dream.
“My name is Lufine.” Red-haired boy paused before answering into the howling wind and the silence it brings after it passed. All thirty pair of eyes gazed at the board, waiting for something to happen. Anything.
And as if it heard our thoughts, the word started carving itself again. When it stopped, Lufine raised its head and looked about before speaking, a tint of embarrassment in his voice.
“Anyone brought with them a writing utensil? I knife would do too.”
“Kellor, I-I’ve brought my house key with me, would it help?” A girl in light purple sleepwear shuffled forward. A boy, no younger than a twelve year old, tagged behind her nervously.
“That would do,” The one next to Lufine took the key courteously. “Thanks, Tiffanie.”
“What did it say?” She whispered.
“Nothing of importance, at least not yet, it’s just doing the formalities with Lufine. Get behind, and hold John’s hand tightly.” Tiffanie did as was told without delay. Clearly, we could see that it was something of importance because beads of sweat trickled down Lufine’s face rapidly as he carved replies to the board. His jaw clenched tight, brows knit close together, almost touching. At last, Lufine placed the wood down and turned around and spoke, a new confidence was in his voice, like that of a commanding officer’s.
“This plank-” He winced slightly, but it was a winced nonetheless. “The ghost trapped in this piece of wood is a strong and terrible mage from a hundred years ago, and we’re going to help free him. In order to do that, he needs certain relics hidden here in our city.”
“So, a ghost wants us to steal precious objects from the museum?” The one who teased me earlier spoke. “What if we don’t want to do what he says? I mean, he’s just a plank. A plank that appeared out of no-”
He was cut off immediately by an unexpected vine that plucked him off the ground and tossed him away into the air. All eyes were upon him as he flailed his hands about in the sky, his scream diminishing every second. His small outline, with the moon shining bright behind him, was suddenly eaten by a shadow that represented a large bird, possibly that of a giant albatross from the Flintstone era.
There was a long shriek in the sky above and all became still on earth below.

SS #1 (Short Story number 1)

The water surface remained calm and still, not a ripple to be found. Long grass and water weeds stood limply by the edges of the lake that reflected the clear cloudless sky where the half-moon shone brightly over the field.

And I stood there before the lake, shivering from the cold night air, wearing nothing but my thin worn out blue PJs, looking for the reason of my being here at this hour. The harder I tried to find the answer, the more it felt like it was slipping away again and again. It was almost within reach when suddenly I was aware of a stillness that was present. Not the type of stillness where everything and everyone stops moving but the kind that causes the hairs on our skin to prick and stand upright for no explainable reason.

Normally I’d just push it aside and continue doing what I was doing before; in this case it would be searching for the reason why I was out here in the open. But I had a hunch that this wasn't normal. And so I scanned area around me with my eyes when something small and white caught my interest. It was like finding ‘the needle in the haystack’ when, in fact, I was looking for something else.

It turned out to be a small puff of fog that sipped from a large space between two ominous tall trees with wide trunks. The fog grew and grew, until it became a thick mist that totally covered every tree in the woods except for their roots. The seemingly harmless fog did not bother me much in any way until it abruptly spread out and covered the vast distance between the lake and the woods so fast and so quick that I almost lost my footing as I took an involuntary step backwards. Sure it surprised me that it blanketed the field before me in an unbelievable rate, but that should not have been the sole reason why I took a step back, in fear.

Something rustled behind me and it took all of my willpower and focus to not turn around for the sake of satisfying my curiosity. I tried not to image anything horrifying. To help distract myself from this seemingly illogical and dreamlike situation I was in, I looked ahead of me, my vision pierced through the thick mist and I saw what I thought I should not have been able to.

I saw myself standing in the mist. Except, the ‘me’ in the mist appeared fake and expressionless, but has an uncanny resemblance to me. We looked exactly the same if not for his doll-like eyes.

I thought that this was a cruel joke and decided that I had enough of this creepiness. I opened my mouth to speak. But no words came out. I attempted repetitively, to make a sound, to yell, to scream. I thought I was turning deaf or even hysterical. I am a physics student, and what was happening to me defied certain laws of physics, such as the mist settling over the field yet there was no wind to act as a medium of transport. I observed the grass after the fog settled, there was no movement, not even a slight indicate that it had briefly shifted position.

Maybe my mind was playing tricks on me. I pulled a couple of sleepless nights a two  days ago to complete a last-minute assignment, but I never thought brain-tiredness could cause a person to become mute or even hallucinate. I closed my eyes and decided that this nonsense was all going to go away after I count to ten.

“One.” I said out loud to give myself confidence and self-assurance.

A wolf howled not too far away. I urged myself to go on.

“Two.”

A second wolf responded to the first cry.

“Three.”

More joined in the chorus of howling and barking.

“Four.”

They annoying wolves continued.

“Five.”

They stopped. I stopped too, momentarily, and I wondered what caused them to stop suddenly. I encouraged myself to resume counting.

“Six.”

A shadow passed over my closed eyes after I heard the unmistakable sound of a pair of gigantic feathered wings beat down from the sky as an unknown bird flew over me. I gulped in panic and cleared my throat.

“Seven.”

Silence.

“Eight.”

The silence continued.

“N-nine.” I stammered.

I waited. I did not know what I was waiting for, but I waited still, uncomfortably.

“Ten.”
